Zomato changes its name to Eternal Limited!

After entering the BSE Sensex on December 23, just weeks later, Zomato decided to change its name on its 17th anniversary. The Zomato board approved the name change to "Eternal Limited." However, the food delivery brand will continue to operate under the name Zomato. CEO Deepinder Goyal explained that the name change represents a unique perspective. He mentioned that it’s not just a name change but also a mission statement. "When we acquired Blinkit, we thought of moving in a new direction for the future. We felt that the name 'Eternal' was appropriate to expand beyond food delivery. Now, I feel we have reached that stage," Goyal explained.

Eternal Limited will have four business units: Zomato – food delivery services, Blinkit – grocery and instant delivery services, District – restaurant support services, and Hyperpure – supply services for restaurants. Goyal expressed that Zomato’s inclusion in India’s Sensex is a proud achievement, especially as the first tech startup to achieve this. He said it would bring greater responsibility for the company’s future. The new name reflects permanent growth and a long-term mission, according to Goyal. With this name change, Zomato is focusing more on expanding its business scope, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the company’s future.
